Welcome to the Encinal School Teaching Garden Webpage

Garden Clean-up Day, November 2005

Encinal School's award-winning Teaching Garden is run by parent-volunteers and is integrated into the school curriculum. Each classroom has a garden bed and each grade has a well-developed curriculum that allows the students to learn about gardening and so much more - including the environment, life-cycles and ecosystems, soil science, food and economy, botany, specialized habitats, and endangered species.

We encourage students to " learn by doing" and to use all of their senses in enjoying, learning from, and contributing to the garden. This page contains links to information that we hope will be useful for parent-volunteers and would-be volunteers.
